NEW LESSONS. HONOURING THE PASt.PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE

This new project will celebrate while working to preserve the culture of the Anishinabe through technology based on the "STEM" (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math Curriculum) . Students will learn how to use computer assisted design (CAD) software as a medium to explore concepts that include syllabic letter forms of the Ojiway/Oji-Cree indigenous languages and traditional practices.

Promote community driven lessons

In partnership with the Windigo First Nation communities and Nishnawbe Aski Nation the project will share the teachings with the first nation and non - indigenous communities in the province of Ontario through technology.

Part 1 - Students will learn about the tools and procedures used in fabricating traditional nets.

Part 2 - Students will create a fishing needle by examining the dimensions and components of traditional needles. Students will use CAD to create some of these objects.

Bearskin Lake First Nation is an Oji-Cree First Nation reserve in Kenora District, Ontario, Canada, located 425 kilometres north of Sioux Lookout.


SLATE FALLS (Ojibway and English)

Slate Falls First Nation is an Ojibway First Nation band government in Ontario. It has a settlement at Slate Falls in Kenora District, Ontario. As of 2016, the First Nation had a registered population of 241 people, of which the on-reserve population was 9.


SACHIGO (Oji-Cree and English)

Sachigo Lake First Nation is an Oji-Cree First Nation band government in Unorganized Kenora District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is located on Sachigo Lake, part of the Sachigo River system and Hudson Bay drainage basin, approximately 425 kilometers north of the town of Sioux Lookout. 


NORTH CARIBOU (Oji-Cree and English)

North Caribou Lake First Nation or Weagamow First Nation, sometimes also known as Round Lake First Nation, is an Oji-Cree First Nations band government who inhabit the Kenora District in northern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 320 km by air north of Sioux Lookout.
